... allowed on the island so it has retained its charm featuring low white houses with their painted shutters and doors in varying shades of blue and green and red clay roofs. Occasionally a splash of red or orange shows a more rebellious spirit on this idyllic island that offers one face of golden sandy beaches and the other towering granite cliffs hovering over the crashing Atlantic. It is hard to believe that right now I am only one month into this amazing adventure. I am very excited to see the places that I will visit and the people that I will meet and get to know over the next ten months. I believe that everything that is happening now an that led up to this was all part of God's plan before I even thought of it. - Ben ...

After a quiet night on the campsite we enjoyed hot showers and a quick breakfast before setting off along the sea front - another varied seashore of sandy beaches with surfers and swimmers, sand dunes, rocky islands and busy port of Sable d'Olonne. The highlight was a stop at a restaurant for a 3 course meal, languatines, sea bass and rum baba - yum yum. A couple of days to La Rochelle ...
