Friday afternoon saw us arrive in Salamanca, a university town for the past 700 years, and our hotel is located immediately opposite the two cathedrals. The first of the cathedrals was built in the early 1300s and when it proved too small, the larger one was built adjoining it in the 1500s. ...

The final activity of the week to report on was a little trip to the fun park which was right on the water at 1 end of the beach. It is pretty self explanatory - see attached for photos. The kids loved it. There is another one at the other end of town with a roller coaster on the top of a cliff, so that is very high on the agenda for the boys along with lots of beach, cooking classes and more pintxos for this week.
... we went into was a jewelry store, opposite the main gate of the Hotel.... "...David.." OMG! Such beauteous and unusual gemstones I have not seen in a long, long time. A family of four generations have had this small store for over 60 years. The current owner we talked to for over a hour... and delightful man who makes all the jewelry in the store, and travels a great deal buying gemstones from all over the world. ... cold! We got to our hotel room and we had 2 double beds, and one night I slept with dad and pushed him out of bed. We went to the beach - it was so fun, and hot and lots of waves - I call the big waves storms. I wanted to go swimming straight away but we went for some dinner. Mitch was definitely in need of a steak and some veges and that's just what he cooked for dinner. It's disappointing that I'm feeling under the weather in such a beautiful place but I'd much rather feel that way here, where we're only just relaxing anyway, than somewhere like Paris, trying to do all the sights. Bed.
