Tom and Sue took the day to zip to Bilbao (1:45 south of Biarritz) to see the famous Guggenhiem Museum. Wow, what a building!! The exhibits pale in comparison, but still we enjoyed a solid 4 hours at the museum. Afterwards, we drove back to San Sebastian where Sue introduced me to Alona Berri, the ...
Biarritz, Aquitaine, France kramertownI don't really need to tell you what we did do I? Take one part playground, one part beach, and one part sunset and you have a Kramer day in Biarritz.
... Dispite the language barriers they had a lovely time exploring the basque country side. What did we do? Why go to the beach, of course!!
... the kids slept. Tom did a little surfing and another nice sunset was enjoyed during dinner.
... only look good. After our first night, we realized they sit out on the bar all day, so who knows how long they sit there. I had a horrible stomac ache after our first night... no wonder. For our second tapas experience, we ordered off the menu and we had Kanguroo Tacos and Shark. It was absolutely delicious.

... riding a bike without training wheels, Sue, Tom and Farmor went out to dinner as a "thank you" for Eva's generousity and planning for our trip. Without her, our trip simply would not have been possible. She picked the restaurant and since she wanted steak we ended up at the "OK Corral" which turned out to be a Tex-Mex place. Across ...
Biarritz, Aquitaine, France kramertownThe aire is a bit out of town but has elecricity but a small fee. Next to a great beach - Milady. Bren swam (bit rough for me), and then onto to sufers bar on next beach.
No buses Sunday so cycled uphill and down into town for lunch at La Palmerium. Great paella and staff good fun too.
Police collected fee this pm, but were not bothered about yesterday, so another free one.
... to from the euro's about train travel! Bayonne is a lovely place (quite after paris!) famous for its jambon (ham for all you aussie's) and chocolate. We spent the morning wondering around (not much was open as it was sunday); the people are much more spanish looking down here and quite serious looking!!! Caught the bus to Biarritz (about 10 minutes) and wow what a difference 10 minutes makes ...
Biarritz, France timandtoni... and will be boring the grandkiddies with. Trudging down the promenade the next day back to the bus station, the town had suddenly turned into Sandgate. We seemed to be the youngest people for miles and definately the only people who weren't wearing matching tracky dackies with accompaning walking stick or wheelchair. Did I dream last night? I looked down and realised I still had my Basque separatist badge on that I had been given at some point last night - nope, it did happen!
San Sebastian, Spain mickandlisa... What was a charming fishing harbour in the Basque country has since developed into a seaside resort to attract tourists. Key activities here are sports such as golf and surfing, anchored by a casino (which was rather dead when I visited). We only stayed here for a day, and took a bus out to San Sebastian the next day to begin our trip through the north of Spain. :-)
