63 boulevard de Verdun Dieppe, Haute-Normandie, Normandy, France, 76200
... we made our way up the hill to the castle. There is a great view of Dieppe form the top and we could see their two huge churches and the stunning coast. After making friends with a cat, who we named Cookie Dough and declared guardian of the castle, we explored a little more before making our way back to the car and on to Rouen.
Are you getting exhausted by all the jumping from place to place because we sure are!! Hehe!
... br>Veules-les-Roses is a little white beach town situated between white cliffs at either end, pretty but not much else to do once you have walked along the beach. There were several other villages along the way like this.
Fecamp is the big town/city of the area. The point of note here is that it is home to the Benedictine monks who after discovering tree washed up on the beach which miraculously ...
Drove from Lille to cute little town that we almost missed as Monday mornings the whole country is shut and a town with 2 bars and a post office is easy to miss. But with a bit of luck (ok, and help from the post office) we found our b&b. We both found it a bit odd though in a town with max 30 named streets the postal workers had to look up the road of our ...
Varengeville-sur-Mer, Haute-Normandie, France jamieandjason... tracks would have been jammed and broken by the heaps of countless stones covering the shore...most the sized of plums or ping pong balls... some considerably bigger. We were told that machine gun and rifle fire would skip or ricochet off of these beach rocks. I walked down to the water's edge and realized that there was a pretty steep drop off when I walked down with care. As I approached the surf I was greeted by the absolutely thunderous sound of the crashing waves on the ...

The final access is via a very narrow track at the side of the river and is hedged in with huge privet hedges then when you do get to the site gates, there is a quaint little wooden floored bridge that you have to turn left immediately you have left it.

Dieppe is where we are headed. We go into town to the city centre and the beach area. We look around to find something for the war, but can't find anything. After walking along the beach we leave and see a few plaques on a, now restaurant, building. There is nothing here for Canada. We see a plaque in memory of 3 Americans who fought with the Canadian troups. We decide to leave and maybe find an information centre. We notice the ...
... generously bought me a Garmin Edge 605 satellite navigation device for my journey and having recovered from a surprise deviation it directed me to a scenic route out of the town, at the start of which was a very steep hill! I realised two things very quickly: the machine does not recognise hills and its chosen route would add about 10km to the journey. So from that point on I navigated by a combination of GPS ...
Dieppe, Normandy, France jamie_pete... euro;3 seemed reasonable and it was kind of unique as the only other toll booth I have driven through before has been the Coquihalla Highway in British Columbia. 50kms later I wasn't as happy when I came across another toll booth on the same stinkin' highway. This time it was €4,50. That's almost $12 cdn for 75kms of driving. Thankfully I didn't pass another toll on the way to Dieppe. Coming ...
Dieppe, France jay29... two big storms with a lot of rain, wind and rays and we were so frightened... But luckily the storms stopped at 3 a.m., and we could sleep for a few hours... Our second night there, which was our third night traveling around between France and Great Britain, we slept very well close to a residence place. The day after, Guillermo was swimming in the sea and Bea was lying in the sun... our trip was almost finished!
Dieppe, France beagui... has been cool, I also get to know people at the hostel to chat with: 3 other canadians from London, Ont. ; 2 germans and another german couple from Dusseldorf. I'm leaving my bag at the hostel to go visit some more today and will pick it again later before I get my bus. I look the ferry leaving to England and visit la Cité de la Mer, the aquarium which isnt worth the price. I wandered around in town too and ate my lunch in a park: yogourt, bread ...
