... sense if they only accepted coins. We’ve actually found that our credit cards and debit cards don’t work in most of the stores here either whereas they’ve worked perfectly fine in other parts of Europe. We managed to get some change from the nearby bar and board the train in time. It was only a twenty minute ride back to Hoorn, the final leg of the historic triangle, where we picked up our van and drove to our next campsite in Edam.

... EEC funded almost empty motorways in Slovenia or the long trip (200kms) through the dessert in Syria on our way to Palmyra. Since we were slower we made the trip driving in the dark with the top down in balmy temperatures under the stars. A trip that will stay with us forever.

The whole trip around the Med was also memorable for its timing. Half a year before the trouble started in Tunisia and after that in the other countries.

Is that enough about bikes? Yes, I thought so. Let’s talk about the weather instead. Or maybe not, as it’s a bit depressing. After the first few days of mostly sun, it’s been about 50% rain each day.
