... was just like having a meal at oma's, or mum's, traditional Dutch meatballs with vegetables. We absolutely enjoyed Riets and Jans company and I feel privileged to be able to get to know these wonderful people I'm related to. They also have a couple of beautiful cats which are very spoilt indeed. Tomorrow is going to be great and I'm so happy to be here to celebrate Tante Marie's 100th and meet a few more of my Dutch ...

... meer weg willen en een rij zoeken om in te wachten omdat ze graag eeuwig in rijen staan te wachten...) Wij hadden geen zin om te wachten tot 14 Februari en vliegen dus nu naar Kathmandu op de 4e en niet naar Varanasi. Dat betekent cappucino drinken in Kathmandu volgende week woensdag en nieuwe plannen maken! Dat vinden wij helemaal niet erg!

... fully overhauled. The engine has been out after when inspected it was apparent that sand had done a lot of damage. The cylinders had to be renewed and a 5speed gearbox was installed. We have also made modifications to overcome the fuel mixture problems at altitude. More about that when we make our first ascend over 4500mtrs. We also fixed the funny problem with the claxon, in Morocco it was sounding every time we made a turn, so we disconnected it.

In the afternoon we did a walking tour of Hoorn with our Program Manager and then there was a demonstration by a Dutch cheesemaker aboard ship, but Jean did not stay for the whole demonstration. She is coming down with a ...

Whenever Simon and I go on holiday, there is always something that happens to us: tsunami, cancelled flights, diverted flights, airplane breaks down, heatwave etc. Yesterday the province of North Holland received more rain in one day than it normally gets for the entire month of August! Floods everywhere !

With that in mind, we ventured cautiously ...
