... a bit out of the way for getting to Salzburg but many pretty scenes, houses and mountains were evident on the road there. This little town is very pretty indeed – high, snowy mountains and a great big lake. Plenty of pretty little houses also. We had a good walk around – took plenty of photos including a funny one of Craig wearing an interesting hat – he looks so much like Poppa in that photo. Only bad thing was that ...

Today we were up and out by shortly after 8:00. Because it was threatening to rain by noon and because it was very clear this morning, we decided to head to Kaprun to Kitzsteinhorn and take the ski lift to the top. It took us about half an hour to get there and then get our lift passes for the day with our 10% discount on the Zell am See-Kaprun Summer Card. The Panorama Lift was closed. Our pass started us off with a very large gondola on ...

... a small cobblestone spur road with lots of hairpin turns. Once at the top we had a 360* view. To commemorate the Peak I bought a pair of socks with Edelweiss flowers on them. We stopped at the Fuscher Torl, a memorial built in memory of the builders of the road. We had a good view of the tallest peak, the Grossglockner for which the Road is named.

After going through two tunnels through the mountain we arrived at Hochtor (High Gate) which ...

... on the deck of our hotel, watched the boats come and go, drank a beer, ate more meat and cheese (Cheryl ate her sausages, horseradish and mustard) and ordered an ice cream, wild berry (a local berry) and wipped cream. I went to use the restroom and by the time I had returned, there was one dessert sitting near my seat and one spilled all over our table. Cheryl had apparently tried to “help” the waiter and the result was all over our table. Cheryl and I couldn't stop ...
