... football last week, and plans are set for a Turkey Bowl game in Croatia for Thanksgiving.
My host mom teaches a DanceAerobic class a few times a week, and all semester has been telling me I should come, to help my French. I have been hesitant to go because I didn't want to embarrass her with my sub-par skills. Finally, I conceded and went. It was an experience? And she told me I am not as uncoordinated as I told her.
On ...
Geneva, Geneva, Switzerland chelseyineurope... crisis started, Bernard Madoff, and banking secrecy. We talked of our personal stories as Christians and the development of our church association in Switzerland. We discussed the merits of the Swiss soldier, the history of the Swiss army and mercenaries, how closely the cantons of Geneva and Vaux are ethnically connected to France. How Napoleon saved Geneva from Berne but then annexed it. We went on to the adventures of traveling in Africa, and corruption ...
Trélex, Vaud, Switzerland joelmeeker... hear from the highway out toward the clearly-visible lake, it was a restful walk. We arrived back in the house around 5:30 and had dinner around 7:00. We talked of many things: school, and jobs and retirement (Mr. Vernaud recently retired), Church history, the B&B, current affairs in our church, the swine flu, international relations and prophecy, to name a few.

By the time we finished dinner I was quite tired so I retired about 9:00 and am hoping for a good night's sleep.
Trélex, Vaud, Switzerland joelmeeker... the hotel its just on the border of france and switzerland and its minging basic travel lodge type hotel with nothing at all to do in the area. We had no money no food or anything luckily the hotel around the corner sold something that they said was pizza although we are not sure what it was but we got some ate it and went to bed as we are up really early in the morning!
Ferney-Voltaire, Rhône-Alpes, France traceybelle... a 45 minute drive to Geneve, rush hour and not a gas
station in sight off the highway. I asked the GPS to help as I
neared the airport and was given directions to a BP station only a
couple of miles from the airport. The traffic was terrible and then
it dawned on me that I had no Swiss francs on me and had heard
stories that our American credit cards do not have a chip in them
like the European cards and will not work at gas stations. On my
last ...
Annecy, Rhône-Alpes, France nedkFrom there we went to Geneva to meet up with Conor and Diane. Since we got there so early, Jon and I started touring the city and randomly ran into them, and Conor’s parents, at the UN building. So we toured the city with them, went to the biggest flee market selling all sorts of random sutff (mostly garbage). WE also ...
Geneva, Geneva, Switzerland sofenjonWe sadly left Chamonix and vowed to return there in the winter, and drove to Annecy. Annecy was kind of a repeat of Prague, beautiful old city, on the water, with canals... we were kind of sick of that scene by then. They are applying to have the 2018 Olympics there, with the ski events at Mont Blanc. It would be a nice venue for sure.
Annecy, Rhône-Alpes, France sofenjon... ancient olympics. Lots of goddesses featuring, particularly Athena. We found three kiwis mentioned in the museum. Barbara Kendell who is a recent member of the International Olympic Committee, Sarah Ulmer, in her role as an anti-doping ambassador and Danyon Loader who donated and autographed his swimming cap from his gold medal race at the Atlanta games. We then headed for Vervey where we had lunch and a wander around the quaint village ...
Geneva, Switzerland suilyWow, thank you so much to everyone who has already expressed interest in the photography idea!! This is going to be great fun! :-) Remember... tell your friends! ;-) Two thoughts. Number 1. So, I left my little paradise in Serres and made my way to Geneva where I was met by one of my favourite family's in the world. The Goodman/Arnold Gang!! This family and my family were like one unit in Fiji. We played together on those ...
Geneva, Switzerland maiaAnnemasse is a cute little town with the most random architecture. I don't know much about architecture but I'm sure that everything is from a different style and or era. It's quite interesting to see that even apartment buildings have triangle shaped roofs as opposed to the regular flat ones that we see back home. Today since I was feeling so ...
