    ... perfection (except for its out of place casino). The 2km promenade along the shore is a must with blooming gardens, sculptures and sights to see everywhere. Strongly recommend! A quick stop at the hotel where Barbara's art is exhibited then we headed back through town window shopping, mostly closed as it was 7pm after a long day.     ... of artists exhibit there. It was interesting and loads of fun. The castle is at the top of a small mountain, with the (real) working town far below, always with a whiff of cow in the air. And there are mountains all around, 2000m or so - just beautiful. We walked around the castle and down the back streets, returning to fetch meringues and cream for dinner - compulsory when you visit Gruyere!
