Ostend, Belguim was a quick 2 night stopover on our way to Amsterdam.

It had a huge beach and a large esplanade with some cool orange art features.

It was empty of people and would be one of those places that come alive in summer.

We did a day trip to the nearby gorgeous city of Bruges.

This is a cool city centred around a couple of big plazas, lots of canals and pretty photo

The plan for Saturday was that Kristi and Jane would head out to find Kristi a waffle ;-) and I would wait for them because I still wasn't feeling great and wanted to take my time in the morning. We planned to go to Ostende (the town on North Sea), and knew trains left often. I headed town to the hotel lobby, and met up with Kristi and Jane who had decided to just hit the train station Starbucks and look for waffles in Ostende instead. Their Starbucks looked ...

... came running at me and pointed angrily at a sign which said quite clearly "NO PICTURE TAKING". So much for the nuns peace. As we made our way back around the city, Sam asked me some questions about nuns. I told her what I know…nuns are women who commit their lives to G-d, or in this case Peace, and that they are so committed to their mission that they do not marry or have children. She then asked if the man we passed a ways back was a nun. "No," I said, "I just ...
