... was a lovely old home with a great apartment for us to stay in. We arrived about 8 so it was a quick unpack and then off to bed. We don’t like arriving at night, so we hopefully will be able to minimise this as our travel between stops starts to become a lot shorter. There are many things we are hoping to start improving on and hopefully now we are becoming a little more used to this travelling thing we have some head space to make these things ...

... around the lock area, saw some more Lemsteraak sail boats and had coffee.
Oh and ... yes we saw a lighthouse. But it is a replica.
The lighthouse was originally built in 1887 and demolished in 1968. This 1993 replica was built for a film and now stands on the pier.
Amazing how cheeky sparrows are. The cleaned up the plate on the table next to us. And they had a go at Mama's cream. I think they would have taken crumbs from our fingers, they were that tame. ...

... for sports such as sailing. Sloten is near the Slotermeer. It is a historical city with old buildings and a mill in the center of the city. (wikipedia)

We had a little walk (you could circumnavigate the place in 30 min.) and took lots of pictures.

... country. I thought I was buying flavoured milk, turns out it was custard and poor Robert discovered this first as he took a big mouthful and it was lumpy, chocolate custard.

We kept driving and found a gorgeous coffee shop called panta Rhei. We stumbled across it by chance. It was run by this dear little Dutch lady in a tiny village and her garden was stunning. We had cake and coffee and she gave us the royal treatment ...

... just passing by, some stopping at the café to have coffee and others just going for a ride. The thing that amazed us was that the road outside the hotel was a cobblestone road, made lots of noise, and the cars seemed to be flying past making lots of noise with their tyres.



We were very spoilt at this hotel and it was gorgeous. set in an idyllic surrounds. lots of walking and might even go for a cycle, seeing as we are in the ...
