... village of Workum to visit the art museum of a famous local artist Jopie Huisman. He was a self taught painter who liked to collect old things and paint them. Fantastic work. Then ice cream and a cuppa at the cafe:) We drove on to Lelystad to see the replica of the ship Batavia from the VOC (Dutch East India company). ... restaurant that advertised that they had mussels. I had been craving them since I had seen them in Giethoorn. The mussels came in a big pot with the lid on it with three different sauces, a salad and fries. Now that's what I am talking about! Brian, had a large hamburger with a healthy portion of Dutch fries and mayonnaise. ;-)

... next airbnb stay. We got a great welcome by Shere, a Spaniard married to a Dutchman. She had an 8 month old baby and they were renting their room in the attic. It was hard to find a place on the Island and the hotels that were not super expensive were all booked. The setup was not ideal since we felt we needed to be very careful not to disturb them. They were super accommodating and made every effort to make us feel welcome.

... were informed that kiteboarding is only allowed in a very specific place on one of the lakes in town. The lake where kiteboarding is legal is called Beulakerwidje. When the lady at the counter said the name in Dutch, Erika and I looked at each other with a pretty obvious ??huh?? look and the friendly lady repeated it very slowly - 'Boo Locker Wag'. How exactly you get that sound from those letters is a bit complicated, I guess. At any rate, I had the spelling of the lake ...
