First, I need to correct a gross error from yesterday. I'm sure the hydrologists were wondering about the Rhone warning level being orange and the locks restricting traffic. Well, my roommate Martin clarified that it wasn't the locks, it was that the water level was too high so bigger boats wouldn't fit under the bridges. SOR! I mean, DES!

So, last night I had trouble sleeping, ...

We are sailing today from Lyon to Tournon, there has been a lot of rain so the Rhone river is on Orange alert, which means that big ships cannot sail. The reason is that the Rhone has several locks, which are really really fascinating. I've never sailed on a boat like this before (not to brag, but I have been assigned the role of ballast on a catamaran previously) so these locks are so great! ...

Having stood in this vineyard on a small tour before we started the tasting – this was a pleasant surprise. 100% Syrah. A third aged in new casks. Ageing lasts between 14 and 18 months.
