Tomorrow afternoon I should be heading into Amsterdam.. Hopefully it won't be raining quite so much there.

Our first stop was the blue city of Delft. With no real sight-seeing agenda, we wandered the town, admiring the blue porcelain and watching the assembly-line of weddings taking place at the Town Hall (at least five that we counted). We enjoyed a lunch of pannenkoeks on a canal-side barge and ...

the square and as one set was completed at one end, the other stage
would start up and was enjoyed by many people. We found a cafe to
sit outside and have a drink and listen to the music, when Sandy
announced that she was ready to go shopping and would return in 30
minutes. Well a little more that 30 minutes and a few hundred
dollars passed and she showed me the Delft china ware that Delft is
famous for that she had ...

A visit to Delft (not Dafft)

... the story about the bike for Christmas was hilarious.) We had just returned to the car when this huge storm came up with winds and torrents of rain. It rained buckets on us all the way home. I asked Gyongyi if this happened frequently in the Netherlands and she said this is the first one she has ever seen like this in the nine years she has lived here. I said I was ...

I was tempted to hire a bike before I saw how the average dutch cyclist drives them here - as a pedestrian you really have to watch out for them - they show no mercy and obviously have the right of way! I was staying right next to the flower market, so very central and easy to find after frequenting a drinking establishment! I'll put up some pictures at the weekend Ronnie

The LONGEST Christmas Ever!

... several times that the Rebmans struggled to keep their heads up and open their eyes. Mid meal everyone started to get a third wind and became slap happy. I'm pretty sure our waiter thought we were on drugs! Even though we were ridiculously tired, we still had a wonderful time! This will be a Christmas we never forget. We are very grateful that we are celebrating as a family and are looking forward to our week ahead! Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!

Princess Juliana's death

... we dropped off the flowers along the lawn (see Pic 5) and made our final approach (see Pic 6). At the door, there were 2 guards who were holding cool swords to deter anyone seeking mischief - I wonder if Bertil ever had to do something like this (see Pic 7). I don't know but it does not seem like an honor to stand in place and stare off into the distance guarding the front door of where a death princess lays but that's just my view. We entered the first room which was ...

Pottery in Delft

Note - this entry was written on March 3, 2008 - very well after my original trip. I will write on what I remember still. We were greeted early in the morning with some nice breakfast provided by the homestay family. It was all sorts of great stuff - croisant-like rolls with nutella and sprinkles!!! We went to Delft early-ish in the morning. We went in and saw a demonstration of the pottery being ...
