The program at ODU partnered with the University of Quebec at Montreal, or UQAM, for short. In English, one would pronounce it U-quam (rhymes with Guam). However, when I said that to the very kind gentleman at the customs counter, he informed me that he pronounced it with a French accent. Oh la la! (In French, we pronounce it Oooo-kam.)
The flight to Montreal was bumpy. Really bumpy. The turbulence wasn't nonstop, but it was close enough. I suppose I should be lucky we even made it at all, given all the cancellations and delays here today. The seatbelt sign stayed on the whole time, and there was no food or beverage service, not even in business class.
