Lib and Al had organised a house exchange in the French Alps outside a town called Saint Gervais-les Bains.  Our cottage was very warm and comfortable and we were lucky to have a few sunny days.  The highlight of our stay was a trip on the Tramway de Mont Blanc. ... family run hotel, where we'd had a coffee on our first day. Our intention was to have a few drinks, and a rustic meal, before catching the last train back (bear in mind the last train leaves Le Buet at 8.40!).

The signpost on the nearby path indicated it was a 45 minute walk to the next station, and we had left ourselves just less than 40 minutes, if we were to get the train.....and the path was mostly covered in snow, and mostly VERY uphill. Anyway, ...
