... being Sunday the cathedral wasn't open till 12.30 so we went on a river cruise along the canal where we heard a little history and saw some of the old buildings where some of the only remaining parts date back to Saxon times. It was really enjoyable. With the rest of our free time we went in all directions....some shopping, some for lunch and a few of us found.....you guessed it....a patchwork shop :) ...

The journey through England was fine until we hit Operation Stack.  Somehow we still managed to reach Folkestone in good time for our train but overnight 'perturbation' by migrants meant all travellers were delayed by about two hours anyway, Made it to St Omer at about 7.20pm, just in time to make our way to this restaurant in the centre of what was quite a nice town.  The hotel was very basic and a little musty smelling so we were pretty pleased to be saying just for the ...

Not suitable for HWD, no power for hair dryer, hair straighteners etc. Worth remembering for another time, the village looks interesting and the area is very scenic.

... overview to date, 224 miles completed and 3284 metres climbed....... 3 times up Ben Nevis. Garmin has proved fairly useless as it keeps wanting to take us on a different route so we have had to rely on the more traditional map. The only problem with this is all 3 of us have short term problems, so kath reads out the next few village names and we all forget them in minutes.
sun tans are coming on nicely even if they are an unusual pattern!
