Woke up at the crack of dawn after a good nights sleep today and had a good walk round to see the nearby sites. Even though it was early the fish market was in full swing and what a site to behold, fresh fish galore straight off the boat onto the quayside, 2 litres of Mussels Si Vous Plait ! - my kind of grocery shopping. We ventured into town for fresh bread and the best garlic we have had in years to make Moules Marinere later ...

... went perfect, the passage plan, the tide, the whole journey. Paul & Clare our surrogate family joined us for a final coffee aboard this morning before we left which was really nice, then watched avidly on the MarineTraffic App to see our progress the whole day - they were the first people we called when we landed, but they obviously already knew. However, disaster averted, I corrected, took the next turn left properly and all was good from there. We drove for about 4 hours with three stops to sightsee and take a break. Today we followed the coast and stopped at seaside towns: Fecamp just for a small walk, Dieppe for lunch and Le Tréport for a walk and because it was the ...

... had a quick late lunch in the Manor Hotel which is acing as a temporary clubhouse while a new one is built. After a quick freshen up back at the hotel, we went into town for a quiet dinner for two. Many of our group were wandering around so we ended up in an eight at a very good French restaurant and had the best French red wine we have ever had from the Medoc region. Bed at 11.30. ...

Up at 7 am for a good breakfast ((if a little Fawlty Towers) and in the bus to golf by 8.30. Hardelot, Le Pins, was a great course set amongst pine and oak trees but much sparser than other days. It was established in 1905. There were very classy houses set amongst the trees and all was beautiful except the weather. After I had played four holes, the heavens opened and the lightning horn sounded and we had to leave the course. We ...
