Disaster Strikes!

... is only a short bus ride away and they have some ancient ruins of an ampli theatre that we could go and visit. So we hopped on the bus after a nice breakfast and headed to the amplitheater. It was freezing so cold that we both had coats and hats on and we got the theater and it was raining. It was an amazing place and Ian went up in the audience bit and I was messing around in the arena asking him could he ...

Driving in Slovenia and actually seeing stuff

... of alleyways behind the town hall, in the hopes of losing myself in them for a little while as I headed out to the lighthouse, on the tip of the town that extends into the Adriatic. Fortunately or unfortunately, the town is small enough that, while one can wander through these alleyways, it is really difficult to truly lose one's self in them. I was out at the lighthouse a short time later, which, as promised by my guidebook, was quite unimpressive ...

Mauro guided us to the far end of town where the new hotel was being built. Directly across from a National park where locals were biking, swimming and enjoying the beautiful woods. Cool caves

... difference to the 30+ degrees of outside. The train ride seemed too quick. At the end of the train ride we were split up into language speaking groups and had a guide to take us through the rest of the caves. The caves were huge. We walked across the Russian bridge which was built by Russian prisoners during the war. There is lots of staglamites and stagatites. On the bus ride back, we had a lovely driver who actually bothered to give us the correct change.
