    ... was decorated inside using all sorts of architectural styles from around the world. Some French which reminded me of Fontainebleau, other rooms had influences from England. The emphasis was on the effect rather than using expensive stone and timber so there was alot of gilded papier mache and faux painted marble.     After breakfast we headed to the small ferry that shuttles across the estuary between Poland and Germany. A short crossing that costs nothing but one wonders why no bridge has been built. We were the last vehicle on, squashed at the back so tightly we couldn't open our doors. But we made it.     ... bridge which allowed boats through every hour. The next day we hired some canoes, because this area of northern Germany has an extensive network of lakes and rivers. We paddled for more than 3 hours - bit of hard work at times, but very scenic and enjoyable. We then took a bit of a wander round town.     Today a 30min meandering walk to view the exhibits at the Neues Museum on Berlin's Museum Island. Then drive back to Hamburg via the impressive Schwerin Palace, a grand ducal residence and seat. Unfortunately we missed the guided tour and made do with an audio commentary via headphones. We lost half an hour during the drive due to a traffic jam resulting from an inexplicable transition from autobahn to a single lane road ending at a set of traffic lights. ...

    ... one: there's no big book shop in Wismar meaning, no English books. Problem two; the library asks €1,25 for thirty minutes of wifi.
