... Seeing each of these memorials was a thoughtful and emotional experience. So many different groups of people were persecuted in this country. It does, however, feel like it's a past that they're willing to leave behind. Since the memorials are outdoors and it was so cold we decided to take our touring indoors. We made our way to museum Island and bought a pass that gave us access to the five major museums in the area. We had already seen ...

... wait. It was a place I could see myself spending a lot of time at if I lived in Berlin, and the food was great. We had local beers and shared nachos (somehow all chips in Europe are better than in the US), and I had the most delicious meatballs ever in creamy caper sauce with potatoes, hello yum. It was great to get back to the apartment out of the heat. And another train trip for N to enjoy.
By now we were over eating out and sick of the fatty food that seems to be everywhere. So the last few days we resorted to buying salads and tins of tuna or marinated chicken from the supermarket for dinner.
More BB in the evening. OMG holidays are ...

... new level. It was VERY hard for me to understand how a person could be controlled by a government. Everything in their lives was monitored by someone. Everything produced by companies was considered bad by outsiders. They shot, imprisoned, and ransomed prisoners and innocent civilians. I came out thinking the whole museum was just WEIRD. A good weird though because it put the Communist era into perspective and showed me the truth. Another weird, yet awesome quirk about ...
