Had breakfast at 8 am with Horst before he went to work at his Hansatouristik office in Contrescarpe Strasse. We walked the 3 km into the Hauptbahnhof to hire bicycles for the day and complete the River cycle tour. However we only had our drivers licenses with us and they would hire out bikes without siting our passports. Instead we decided to partly complete the 17km Bremen Innerstadt Runde bike tour on foot. We walked points 1-8 on the tour map covering Stadtmitte, ...

... ever before, our luggage was also there so we headed off to pick up our Alamo rental car. Even that was a cinch. Not even 15 minutes and we had our jeep loaded and headed off to Cape Coral. But alas not everything was easy. We needed over an hour to reach Alligator Alley. The I-75 North was one huge traffic jam which caused us to travel an extra hour. We finally arrived in Cape Coral at 7:30 pm local time. We were so exhausted we headed straight for our beds. No travel pics ...

After some online reconnaissance we ventured into the city today for a look around. We drove to a local train station and had no trouble buying day passes from a vending machine for €6 each. Parking was a little drama - the 'park n ride' we drove into closed at 9pm and there was a chance we'd be back later than that. So we parked on the street and stressed about getting a ticket (no, thankfully). Trains were comfortable, clean and convenient, and ran ...

... Hans and Hendrik have an ov chip card. With one card, we manage to squeeze 3 people and 2 backpacks through the gate. Alarms go off, I expect a battalion policemen any moment, but nothing happens. Even the few people on the platform don't look up. Apparently this is normal. It's obvious I don't travel by train often.

In Hilversum we face the same problem. We have to go from platform 1 to platform 2, and for some obscure reason we have to pass a gate again. O tempora o ...

We are sitting outside a McDonalds in Hamburg waiting for our friend and host Frank to fetch us. We have got about two hours to kill before he finishes work and while our objective was to at least find a bar, Hamburg is probably the only city in Germany where beer doesn't run more freely then water. What they do have here are sex shops and casinos. Our brief walk around the city has mostly been past places branded with erotic posters and toys ...
