We had a great sleep last night in our little third floor pension which we found online. The bed was great as was this mornings European breakfast. After checking out, we walked through Haslach and took a few photos of this neat little Black Forest town.

Heading north, we passed through Lichtenau and of course had to stop at 7 Sommerfeld Strasse, our first home away from home (1975-78) The Murphy gang might remember that there was an Edeka grocery ...

There was entertainment in the bar. A violinist and a pianist and a MC...not sure why they needed a MC, maybe no English?? They were very good, I wish Sue Ball was here to tell us - because I know they were not symphony caliber but very good musicians, and this job gives them a chance to do what they love. Make a living? Not sure about that...although there are many, many tourists.

... will never be finished because of the magnitude of the maintenance task - in fact two sides had scaffolding up to support the ongoing maintenance program. It's front facade covers 750 sq metres and has 10,000 sq metres of lead light windows. It suffered 14 direct bomb hits during the war but was rebuilt. ... to the house in which Ludwig van Beethoven lived. Unfortunately, due to reconstruction works, most of the building was shrouded in scaffolding and tarpaulin so we couldn't see much.
