Woke up at 6,30am not sure where we are as we are just moving very slowly could be we are waiting to go through another lock or for a berthing slot in Breisach as the itinerary said we'd arrive in the early hours. Just put the bow cam on and it is a lock, it can't be much further though as we left Strasbourg at 10pm last night. Finally arrived in Breisach 4 hours late, we feel for the Captain whose been on duty 11hours now navigating us safely through a ...

It rained in the night and we woke to the clouds low on the mountain. Anita had an early hair appointment so she gave us a lift to the thermal baths in the town. They were not open until 9oc, so we went for a walk in the rain. Had to sit in a coffee shop for a while. The thermal baths were very smart. There was an Indooroopilly and one outside steaming in the cool rainy conditions. The outside pool had a series of water-jets targeting different parts of the body, so ...

... back to the house for some bread and cheese--the Germans seem to live on bread and not much fruit and veg ! Later on Anita took us in the car to a local beauty spot, very popular with the locals. It was at Monchatal, and was a walk along a wooded valley. The dog loved the water and she paddled whenever she could. We had the pizzas for dinner and retired for an early ...

... turned towards Oldenburg as Gabi wanted a swim in the lake there. It was her home town. We all had a swim in the lake and Christina made a coffee for us on their little cooker. After another two hours we made it to Bad Liebenzell, at Anita's house way up above the town. It is a lovely wooden house with a huge wild garden and a shaggy bearded collie called Dala. Anita does not speak any English and we sat round with glasses of water, until, at 9oc, I said to Lilli "does she ...

... bends. You could slow it down with hand -brakes, but it was still fast and leaned over on the corners --28 bends in all. I reached the bottom without too much drama, but it was a scary experience, well out of my comfort zone ! We had a good laugh over my discomfort! We next went on to Feldbergv, a huge winter ski resort, even higher in the mountain. We had our picnic lunch there- at 4pm-- then went for a walk to a chalet along ...
