... from the 15th century and before. The stained glass, which you can see, was destroyed during WWII and remade decades later by a German artist. Beneath the sanctuary there is a series of tombs where, supposedly, the family of Kaiser Konrads II (10th century) is buried.
When we left the cathedral, we walked 150 yards to a museum of Roman presence in Germany. As you can see, I took a few photos in the courtyard of the museum, but Tracy and I did not follow our ...
Well...this time honestly I didn´t have time to make travel list or structure my backpack. After finishing my PhD graduation there was time onyl to celebrations and party (since the last months I rarely had much time).

... be proud; I think time almost stopped in the Christmas store. It was so sparkly and festive, a very happy place.
I wisely saved Philsophenweg for the next day, allowing a little rest from the stair master treatment. The path starts with a monkey guarding the old bridge, which was mobbed by Japanese tourists snapping photos every time I passed by. The mobs thinned to a trickle by the end of the bridge ...
Well we didn't really spend much time in Frankenthal. It was really just a stopover since we arrived a day early for my mum to arrive in Frankfurt.
We got to Frankfurt and found a call shop to help us find a hostel/hotel for a good price. Unfortunately there weren’t any in Frankfurt so we made our way to Frankenthal about 30 minutes outside of Frankfurt. One piece of advice…when parking in paid parking areas make sure you pay! Haha…we ...
... medieval Germany to see castles! umm....change of plans. So after seeing the great cathedral of Speyer this morning (where Martin Luther began his great Protestation), we're heading to Wally World! And we're gonna have so much f**king fun we're going to need f**king surgeons to get the f**king smiles off our faces. (bonus points to whoever knows where that classic quote comes from. Anyway)
cheers all

Mannheim, Baden-Württemberg, Germany rush0517... our trip to South Africa being #1) providing wildly inaccurate forecasts. Because when you say "weather in Germany between 60-75F" I will indeed pack for that, and discover the actuality of 30-50F a welcome surprise. Or a chily one.
3) My cat sitter, who waited until Monday to note that she'd misplaced my house key and had to call a locksmith to get in to feed my cats. Anyone know a good cat sitter? We are apparently in the market for one. :)
And now. The castles ...
... ve been ashamed of their history of course, and no-one even flew their flag. it aws hosting the world cup soccer in 2006 that turned that around, as teh world saw them as a party country during the competition and they were really proud of that. who'd have thunk it
afterwards we went to SAP, a huge software company. this place was huge. i'd never heard of it, but it reminds me of google. they have room for at least 600 people in their cafeteria, where employees ...
... village where we were staying. Out front was a sign for Sonntag Brunch or something like, and I went in and got the absolute last reservation for Christmas brunch (on a Sunday in 2005). But man did that **** suck! It was some sort of weird fish brunch, and considering we were deep in the heart of Germany, far removed from any ocean, I doubt anything was even remotely fresh. The place smelled like a cross between a sardine can and the inside of my grandfather's ...
