Tonight we went to a German dinner party (we found out later that it was actually a birthday dinner). Anyway, it was very nice and we were surrounded by German conversation. Many parts had to be translated for us but we picked up on quite a bit anyway.

Our hosts were Dietmar and Anja and they welcomed us happily into their home. Anja spoke very good English and loved talking to us. Dietmar was loud and gregarious and constantly made sure his guests had food and drink ...
Littfeld, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany javawarlordToday I went with Frank to the Krombacher Brauerei (Krombacher Brewery). It was named after the village here. Krombacher is the largest producer of beer in all of Germany. It has been family-owned since it started over 200 years ago.

The tour was in German but I was still able to understand a lot of it. Frank would translate some parts and so would our guide, Tanja.

The brewery is very large and the tour ...

Dortmund, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany doktor-albanToday we took a hike into the nearby woods. It was a very nice trail that wasn't too challenging but it had been a while since I had been hiking so it was enough to make me work a bit. It was about a one hour hike, 2027 feet to the top of the mountain. At the summit, there was a nice ...
Kreuztal, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany javawarlord... br>
What should have been a two-and-a-half hour road trip to Kreuztal became three or more hours with all the construction at various places on the Autobahn. After being constantly berated by our German GPS unit for taking side roads to get around the construction, we finally made it to Kreuztal.

It was wunderbar to see Julia and her family again. We visited for a while and then went to see the Siegerland im ...

Iserlohn, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany nax... Well we were pretty much the last people to leave that night, got drunk and had some real deep drunken conversations with some of my friends ;) The next few days were quiet, went to another friends bands bandroom and they played for us and kicked ****. Nothing much happened, went to my old school, saw some more old memories and stuff... weird feelings...
