      26.10.14 Left Schwangau today and drove through Austria with snow all around us and to the Waldheim Hotel in the Valle Di Casies in the heart of the Dolomites. There is snow all around us but the roads are clear. It is a really picturesque area, not much to do except admire the scenery. We checked into the Hotel and went for a long walk, the Hotel has a restaurant so we will have dinner there. Stayed in our room and played scrabble ...

      ... remain in our hearts as our favorite European city. We were awed by the northern city of Bolzano and so thankful we got to experience the Dolomites. We were enchanted by the magic of the lakes, especially Lake Como, with low-lying clouds, misty mornings, twinkling evening lights. Everywhere, we were treated with kindness -- and treated to the most fabulous food, especially pasta, and wine.

      A nice family run hotel which allows dogs, we were surprised with the number of big dogs allowed into the dining area.
      We liked it there, as we could start many walks from the hotel.
      We could catch the 180 bus up and down the valley after we took a 15 minute walk down a steep trail through the woods from our hotel.
      The small village of Vigo di Fassa was on our bus route and this allowed us to do some spectacular high walks in the ...
