1728. My Third Alpine Pass

... like Tibet than the Alps.

Walking along a busy road, with ski lifts all around, I must say crossing this pass doesn't have quite the same raw magic as Splugenpass did. In fact, right at the very top of the pass is yet another cluster of hotels and restaurant.

There is one contraption that catches my attention: It's a cable that disappear way up the mountain, and a wooden box, which it looks like it's still in use, as a very, very rustic cable car to get up the ...

1727. The Higher, the Colder

... head past the last village, following a quiet footpath up the valley as it gets narrower and steeper as daylight fades. ... on up the trail, zigzagging back and forth, back and forth, until I finally reach a rocky area of semi-waterfalls, with the beautiful waterfall not too far above.

Close enough. Time for a videoclip. I pause to soak in the view, then head on back down the moutain. By the time I reach the town of Auberbraz again, I've lost several hours and climbed nearly a thousand meters just to see a waterfall close up.

Worth it, I'd say... but I won't be doing this too often, I don't ...

1724. Following the Trail

... Sure enough, the valley just divided in two, and I'm supposed to take the right valley. Glad I caught that! I could've hiked the whole day up the wrong valley. Back to the correct valley, I find a little village that hasn't quite woken up ...
