    Just testing our blog !!! We are now settled in our apartment and enjoying the peace and quiet that is when Ben and Hannah aren't jumping in the pool !!     We took a week off in May and went to explore the mountains. The Balkan range runs across the middle of Bulgaria dividing the country into two halves. It has rocky mountains, wooded wilderness valleys and lots of history. Many of the events leading up to independence in 1878 were based here and it is hard to find a single town where it is not commemorated.
