... the ride and packed up and headed to lunch. Enjoyed one final lunch together then needed to say goodbyes and we left for the train station. Train ride to Brussels was very nice - both for the ride and processing all the wonderful people and adventures that was just completed. Arrived at the train station and realized the roads once again were really confusing. Walked a good distance in the wrong direction through the city with all my luggage until I found a subway station - then I ...

... One of the 19 is now a Windmill Museum. The last family to live is this one, raised 13 children there. It is very tiny and of course is a circular home. It has 3 floors but only 1 bedroom for the parents and 1 for all of the children. I guess they must have slept all over the floors, from top to bottom. We were back at the ship at 5:00. ... its powerful place, painters like Jan Van Eyck flourished here and the rich built opulent homes. Interestingly, the Dutch considered it bad form to show off wealth through ostentatious building, but the Flemish in Bruges added as much gilt and statuary as they could. The town hall, with its sparking white stone fašade, is decorated like an ornate wedding cake and gilded up, down, all around with gold statutes and ornaments. The seat of rule for over 700 years, the building is ...

Travelling into the Amazon rainforest of Surinam

... villages. In two and a half hours you could be in Kwamalasamutu, almost on the Brasilian border. To give an example of the rates: a return ticket for a flight of an hour costs about €300. Booking can be done independently and is very easy. The flight in a small aircraft across the untouched Amazone rainforest is an adventure on its own. The two airlines that flyregionally are Gumair and Blue Wings. The grass airfields ...
