... for our gourmet meals, tasted a couple of their 400 beers they produce, enjoyed their cafes and took a canal tour to learn a bit more about the city. It was occupied during the war but not bombed, so it had loads of old world charm.
One of their churches houses one of the 3 remaining statues of 'Madonna and Child", so we enjoyed the cafe on the street, while Helen popped in for a gander.
We also found a Haagen Daz ...

    MAY 5, 2014 - EIGHTH DAY

We cruised overnight & docked around 9:30. The TV in our cabin lets us see where the ship is going. Pretty interesting. The walking tour leaves at 9:30. We walk to Kopelkerk which is a church in
Willemstad and the oldest church (1620) in the Netherlands. We listen to an organ recital and then walk around the tiny town of Willemstad. The city is completely surrounded by its old city ...

... good. But strong - with a bit of lemon, they ended up being quit good. The beer is strong ... I have a buzz at 3pm! After a bit of shopping, I headed to St Salvatorskerkhof. The one thing I really like about Belgian churches is: they play music throughout. And it completely changes the vibe. Most cathedrals in Europe- feel like a museum of things past. However, which the music, it actually feels like a house of worship. If it wasn't so cold, I could sit here all ...

Travelling into the Amazon rainforest of Surinam

... villages. In two and a half hours you could be in Kwamalasamutu, almost on the Brasilian border. To give an example of the rates: a return ticket for a flight of an hour costs about €300. Booking can be done independently and is very easy. The flight in a small aircraft across the untouched Amazone rainforest is an adventure on its own. The two airlines that flyregionally are Gumair and Blue Wings. The grass airfields ...
