They still had the markings on the wall of Anne and her sister's growth charts, and some of the magazines Anne was given by those who were hiding her. They even had Anne's original diary on display. ... for the final hour. Our hotel it turns out is only about a 2min walk from the train station, yay something that was easy today! Our room is 5 floors up and lovely and spacious so we are very lucky! I like the story of how the red light district came about - sailors having spent months at sea would port at Amsterdam, spend their money on booze, food and legal women. The next day they would go to church , confess their sins and the church would hand out a penance tax and clear the sailors of sin. Everyone's a winner!!! Day 3: Anne Frank house. While both dean and I had ...

... tree! Turns out they’re ring-necked parakeets, living ferally far north of their historical range.

Spent some more time in the Rijksmuseum, having not had enough last trip. Many masterpieces there. Also visited the interesting Dutch Resistance Museum, a couple of canal houses and Nieuwe Kerk (new church), where the World Press Photo competition photographs were being exhibited. Amazing work! Had an informative tour of a social-housing ...
