... How difficult could it be, it’s only 193 miles away! So with Ness behind the wheel for the first stint, glasses on and concentration on her face, I was sat in the passenger seat with the Croatia roadmap folded out – I forgot how big these roadmaps are – nearly half the size of Liechtenstein! So with only the relevant section of the map folded out we set course for Rijeka.

I soon realised that it was very hot on the morning of my birthday. I knew this because of the sweat running down my face at breakfast. However, the orange juice was freshly squeezed and the scrambled eggs impossibly fluffy. So it wasn't all bad.

They had a delightful breakfast and really enjoyed the fresh orange juice. They went for a walk by the sea organ again and meet a couple from the Black Country.
It really was getting too hot already so they went into the shade of the narrow streets. After looking at some Roman remains,they found the best ice cream yet to cool off.
Back to the hotel for coffee and a sleep for Ed, it is hard being the birthday boy! ...
