Autorijden en Chiapas - why not to do it

Tour from Huatulco

Tour. Up early and met by driver at Hotel. He informed us there would be 9 people on the tour and we drove round for 30 minutes picking them up then ended up right back at the Hotel to begin the tiur...Mexican logic! We headed off to Metzune first, this is a samll village where they products they produce go back into the village to support schools etc, Anita Rodick set it up, they apparently didn't know she was dead until I informed the guide. oh. Very pretty place, well worth a ...

... place as our favourite spot was closed. There we had the worst Pina Colada that you can imagine!!! We were sitting on a bar table with integrated board games so we started playing just as our neighbours did. After a while we got to talk to them, a lovely couple from Argentina, super nice!! Waking up early morning we wake up with the smell of fresh baked goods so we get up when everybody is still asleep and get some nice goods hot from the oven, what a treat before taking off!

... s island where they have palapas and are doing some reforestation work, I saw some unfamiliar caged animals, an area with small crocks awaiting introduction into the wild, one huge ass crock and some deer. As we walked under one of the palapa areas Mateo says to me in his very brisk English accent, "Would you like to have a look over here at our boa constrictor? He's just up here on the beam of the palapa." My heart stopped and I quickly ...

You just hop on a knock on the window when you get off and they tell you how much it cost. I'll have to take a picture of one before I leave. Well, anyway we went to a turtle conservation aquarium where you can see various types of turtles native to Mexico. The little pueblito of Mazunte (pop. 450) used to be dependent on hunting ...

... bus station, which also apparently didn't run buses to Puerto Angel and gave us more directions...back in the other direction again. A small pickup truck stopped and asked where we were going. It turned out, he was going in the opposite direction but would be going in the correct direction in five minutes. We waited on the opposite side of the road and sure enough, the same man turned up five minutes later. We piled in for our first colectivo experience. The ...

... to be a yellow flag (although this beach is known to be bad and surfers only!) so we run in. The water was about knee depth and i was knocked clean off my feet - it is certainly still ferocious even with a yellow flag. We jumped around in the waves for a bit until my swimsuit was so full of sand and my bum and legs so well sand papered i could take it no longer! We wander down the beach and find a great restaurant hidden behind some rocks, at ...

... to stay out of the water after that. Paula enjoyed her first bit of beach action in months. Had a really nice dinner at night on a rooftop restaurant which seemed to be the only place in the whole town with any kind of breeze. After that went and sat at the path next to the rocks and had a cold beer . Didn´t think that much of the town so decided to leave the next day.

... You don't get a picture of my crispy face. We'll wait til it's brown. I left and went to walk on the beach, where I met Anders and Bjarke, two Danes who needed their picture taken. We went to a palapa bar and had a couple of beers and discussed politics (I hope I didnt't scare them), travel experiences and cultural differences. The usual stuff. I was so happy to be speaking english that I couldn't stop talking. I dont think they minded. At ...

... matter!) so we are staying in a little bungalow with some moskitos and apparently Iguanas that sometimes crawl past the open section between the wall and the roof!! The shower is also quite hilarious as you have to hold a chain when you want the water running! And we apparently blocked the shower up with the sand off our feet (really, I think he just needed someone to blame!!)!! hmmmm.... so much to look forward to! But on a positive, the hostel is only 200 metres from the beach ...
