Hit the 2000 mile mark today North of Warsaw Still without a map of Russia but we bought the other essentials (wine, shampoo, vodka and brioche). Using the trusty compass to get by and shaking it when it doesn't agree with us! At least we are driving through beautiful countryside with lots of storks, wherever we are heading. Heard from another team that it took them 5 hours to get over the Russian border so trying to get there early with our camping ...

... that allowed me to put the bike around a corner out of sight, along with my tent. If someone starts or finishes the walk here they'll see me, but in this weather I can't imagine anyone will today. As I pulled up, a large number of mosquitos started hovering around, so I left all my bike gear on - including my helmet - while I set up the tent, then I quickly unpacked the bike into the tent, dumped my wet gear on the bike with my helmet, covered the bike and scooted inside the tent ...

Shortish ride her yesterday,through pine forests,and very quite roads,it was stunningly beautiful. 270 miles,arriving at our gorgeous hotel,all marble reception,very plush,private parking for bike, Our room had its own private balcony. ... this is a small town and everybody knows everybody. A couple of the people told us exactly how to get to her street and off we went. Once we found Ulica Pocztowa we saw a woman picking nuts and asked her where my aunt's house was, she pointed up the street, gave us a few handfulls of nuts and sent us on our way. ... sausages for tea accompanied by a humdinger of a thunderstorm. The mains keeps going off, not that that bothers us as we're only using it to keep the battery charged. If it wasn't free we wouldn't bother connecting up. However mine host came and apologised for the power cut.
