... the view, we trekked back to town and went to a few little shops, one of which sold handmade paper. The shop owner insisted on showing us how he makes the paper, which was super interesting. He made and pressed a sheet right in front of us, and he even showed us how the old ink stamp worked! It was so cool that we gave in and bought a few little cards!

... Ohrid is pretty ordinary but the architecture was quite different and makes the town different to all the others we have visited so far. The town is right on lake Ohrid. The lake is 2/3 bounded by Macedonia and 1/3 Albania. The lake is huge and would be an ideal summer place to visit. Ohrid has experienced a longer winter this year and more snow than usual, much like the rest of Europe so it hasn't quite warmed up there ...

... angles. I got a fridge magnet of the very attractive red and yellow Macedonian flag. From the fort, we went to a church that had old mosaics that were being excavated. From there we took a path to the most photographed church in Ohrid...or maybe of all of Macedonia. It was on a cliff over the lake. This was the church of St John. There were yellow flowers and white iris and it was very photogenic.
