... and completely clear. And they were sand beaches -- not rocks like in Italy. I found a big rock that hung out a bit over the water and sunned there for awhile with my normal clothes still on. Not knowing if the sea experiences tides and freaking myself out that I'd get stuck on the rock I headed back to the sand. It was so nice and warm I decided to go full on and don the bathing suit. A great idea that would have been made better if I had thought to bring a towel. Argh!

El Cabo de Gata, Andalusia, Spain josiezim

... had an American vegetarian in his Argentinian restaurant in Spain. I had some delicious vegetable soup and pasta. And after one glass of Rioja (typical Spanish wine) he suggested I instead drink the 'good stuff' some Syrah wine from Argentina. I am now on my 3rd glass of wine, my bag has been 'dropped' by my side for 2 hours and my friendly waiter, who also lived in Rhode Island for several years, snuck me the wifi passcode for the restaurant's office.

Life is good.

Unfortunately, its was time to return to reality. Back on the road. Although, waking up and having a cooked breakfast and a packed lunch made for your journey is enough to raise anyones spirits.

Returned to San Jose. Next day drove around to the town of Cabo de Gata, saw the salt-pans, went up the the "Cape", saw the incredible beach of Cabo de Gata, had great lunch there, then went around to the beach at Monsul. Eventually decided I HAD to leave!! 

I decided to rent a car for my last couple of days at San Jose, so took the bus into Almeria. Although there is an excellent integrated bus/train station there, Airport buses go from elsewhere!! So I went looking for the bus-stop, found a man who directed me half-a mile down the road. As I walked to the bus-stop, the Airport bus went by! Zaterdag is het een stuk relaxter, voor 10.00 uur staat het onderwaterschip voor de tweede maal in de antifouling, maar ik krijg de werfbaas niet zover de boot in het water te later zakken.
