A lovely morning in Messina and we are hoping to disembark early enough to catch the train to Taormina. Unfortunately the Italian officials took their time so it was 9.20am when we got off and not quite enough time left to catch the train.

ell, we were too busy to update for Sicily and Malta, but we have a sea day to catch up. This is not your usual cheery blogger Gail, but the old grump Rob. This morning we caught a C-130 {slow propeller cargo plane} to Sicily. We landed and found that there is a flight to Germany in a couple hours. Tomorrow there are five or so flights to the East Coast. We are going to forgo exploring Sicily and opt to catch a flight to the US from Germany, and return to explore Sicily some future summer.....Susan really wants to try ...

Messina

Well we set sail from Messina about 1:00 pm on Sunday October 30th. Have to say not a lot to report. Very quite sea port especially on a Sunday morning. Lot of controversey aboard ship as to the actual reason we by passed Tamorina.

So we decided to stay on board and prepare ourselves for the big day in Rome tomorrow. Arrive in port at 7:30 AM and leave at 8:00 PM, one hour ride in and back.
