... night (ahhhh! not the budget holiday we were planning!) Anyway breakfast and a glorious five course dinner was included each night and the shower was amazing!

Andy, Jimmy and the Molks joined us for our last dinner (devine!) and when Hugh went to settle our room bill we encountered a little 'lost in translation' moment. It turned out it was 177 euro per person per night for our three nights!! 1200 euros later we got on the train back to Zurich!

... slopes, Austrian food is hearty and filling, especially on a cold day, goulash soup, spetzle, schnitzel, sausages of numerous types! You leave refueled for the afternoon runs. ... would be and knew to be prepared for steeper terrain at the top. What a difference it makes for me to know what to expect. We headed up the pass, stopping every 2 miles or so to take a break. I didn't really need the first one, but it certainly helped. I used those breaks as mileposts along the way. With them, the climb was actually reasonable.

... a gravel track steeply up the hill to it. Turns out, it was a tunnel for the train - not for cars or bikes.

I went through the tunnel and along the tracks for a few hundred meters until I reached an old road bed to the little town of Saas. After that, I was through with the cycle paths. I'd rather brave traffic. I climbed back up to the road and just stayed on it for the rest of the way to Davos.
