        The holiday came to an end and although Manchester Airport had to close for one day while we were away due to snow, Kittila Airport stayed open the whole week even though we had had a metre of snow!! We boarded the plane in Kittila Airport and took off on an ice rink once again. Manchester, UK here we come!!

        ... not have doors fitted because the hotel is constantly sinking under the weight of the snow and if there was doors fitted the doors would not open and close due to the door frames moving. We were shown where we picked up our thermal sleeping bags and pillows from. There was a warm area in the permanent part of the hotel where we could go at any time for a cup of tea and a warm if it got too cold for us in the night.         ... to show David how it could reach 80kph in about 100 metres and then brake quickly enough to go round a hairpin bend.

        David was offered to drive Reino’s snowmobile, but thought better of it and instead went on the older and slightly slower Lynx 59. Following Petri, they first started hooning around in a field that had about a metre of fresh powder in it before heading out for a short trip on the forest track.

        One or other had to be cleared of snow. The shorter driveway seemed the best option because we could then drive our bags to the cabin instead of carrying them, but the snowplow had left a huge wall of snow blocking the entrance. After a few minutes David decided that it was going to be easier to open the footpath this evening and do the driveway another day.
