    ... never to go on that kind of tour, no matter how decrepit we become. We have enough independence in us to resist such a tour. It sounded ghastly.     We set out this morning to find a breakfast place in the old city of Cologne. On the way we came across a wedding at what we think was city hall. Actually more than one. While we were watching the gathered masses another wedding car, a beatle VDub, arrived with an older, maybe second time around couple in it.     ... in we head over the bridge covered in padlocks to visit the cathedral. It must have been one of the few buildings to remain after Cologne was heavily bombed.

    Lovely we hopped on the inevitable tourist bus which zipped us round the sights...

    ... and found a chinese restaurant nearby. On the way, we say hundreds of police men/women and wondered what was happening.
    The food was great -- it was nice having something besides German food.
    On the way back to our hotel,we saw a big protest starting. When we got back to our hotel, we saw the protest go by. May tomorrow, we can find out what the protest was for.
    It's time for bed.
