      ... back down to walk to the Old Town. It was now that my other shoe went out in sympathy, but half of this one was flapping. After about 100 metres we were lucky enough to find a hardware store (I don't think I have even noticed one since we've been in France). So we bought a roll of gaffer tape and much to the amusement of the owner, and using his scissors, we successfully made running repairs which lasted the rest of the day!!       ... be fairly easy to spot the beach... we were wrong. We walked around for about 30 minutes before finding a place to lay out. The island seemed to be pretty desserted and we found no one else in beach clothes, so we totally thought we screwed up and somehow misread the info no Īle Sainte-Marguerite being one of the best beaches.The island of course was beyond gorgeous but it just unfortunately wasn't sandy or beachy like we were at first expecting it to be. ...

      ... bit. Then we got on the boat for the cruise. Free bar meant the drinks flowed very nicely and Hannah and our friend Kate got pretty merry on the "Captain's Rum Punch", which was basically cheap rum with a dash of cranberry.
