... driver asked us all to leave the tram as there had been an accident and he was unable to continue. Neither of us had our rain gear and it was raining like crazy. We found shelter under an overhang on one of Vienna's baroque buildings and eventually we were able to resume our journey. ... which included the local red wine made with zweigelt grapes. After dinner, we walked down to the Christmas Market at the Rathaus and found some apple strudel and hot Christmas Punsch.

Thursday had a late lunch, wanderings in the city center, more Punsch, a visit to Prince Eugene's Winter Palace and leftovers and latkes for dinner.

... prosciutto and cheese in the morning is starting to assault my tastebuds a bit. Breakfast was ok however it was not cereal as such but Bercher muesli. I hadn't heard of it before and mistakenly expected cereal. It was a muesli in yoghurt. It tasted ok and so I ate it all. (Pamela: plus he would have gone hungry otherwise.) ... joined my room – Olly, a 20 year old Welsh kid who was traveling for a few weeks around Europe during his semester break and Guilia, a 21 year old Italian girl who had just arrived in Vienna for one year of Erasmus (exchange) study.
