... the clouds so obscured it you wouldn't know it was even there, although its presence loomed heavily. On the way up and in the mornings the peak was clear and beautiful. Our pictures did not do the scene justice but any of you reading can google some better pictures and then imagine what we could see :)

We couldn't check in until 2pm unfortunately so we left our luggage and went exploring. Amusingly, we saw the attendant cleaning our luggage wheels in order to keep their establishment clean; how Japanese! Since this was a mountainous region, we climbed a rather steep hill in the baking heat to find Gora Park, and instead decided to eat lunch ...
Luckily I kept to "never put off until tomorrow what you can do today" because I arrived at Mt Fuji at 3pm on Saturday and immediately went for a walk and got some really nice photos of the mountain. If I had waited until today you would still have had some pictures of the mountain but with a lot of haze.
I travelled down from Nagano by train. That JR rail pass is getting a real work over. ...
