Arrived after a short uneventful journey. Campsite similar. Weather changeable.

Tourist sites do not always live up to the flowery language used in the brochures eg. "Musicological Nucleus of the Salt" turned out to be a Musee de Sel. We did not go.

The local beauty spots, like every where else, that we did go to were covered with ingrained litter.
We are moving on tomorrow.
Figueira da Foz, Beiras, Portugal mikeandsuecuffWe arrived without incident after a short and pleasant journey. Odd campsite mainly permanent encampments! Most of them looked like they had been there for many years. We were entertained by families arriving over the weekend to pack up for the winter. They cleared out all the rubbish that they had accumulated over the summer. They then covered their caravan.awning and covered area with tarpaulin and tied it down and put stones ...
Aveiro, Aveiro, Portugal mikeandsuecuff... to confess that I'd never heard of it, but it must have been an important town as the ruins cover an extensive area and include some beautiful mosaic floors in an excellent state of preservation. Once again we had to admire the Romans' building skills. The site was very well presented, with an excellent museum, and as an added bonus entry was free because we happened to go on a national holiday, 25th ...
Figueira da Foz, Beiras, Portugal oldagetraveller... another spread for breakfeast with our new friends the Conzalas family. The next day our kids finally get to see the Atlantic close up.. [PHOTO_ID_L=3_the-atlantic.jpg warm air, cold atlantic! It was wonderful to end our car journey at the beach with gelatos before leaving for our final drive... back to Amora.
Figueira da Foz, Beiras, Portugal hollingers... enough just to fit a car.

We then drove back west to Alcobaca. The Cistercian Monastery of Santa Maria was closed, but beautiful enough from the outside. Even at Batalha the Monastery was closed but the square around, was beautiful for a short rest stop. Tired by then we thought of dropping Fatima, but decided to drive up, as it was not far from our ...
Coimbra, Beiras, Portugal savla78... 18-15 against Sameer and Nasser. We then swam in the pool, had strawberries and showered. In the evening, we drove to a nearby restaurant where I had the best Sea Bass (Rubalho). That night, Nasser, Feba and Anaisa drove back to Lisbon. Nasser and Anaisa had to work the next day and we were scheduled to go with them, but plans changed last minute and we decided to go to Porto the next day.
Coimbra, Beiras, Portugal pille... of alcohol, well actually more than a dash and its good times for all! The perfect receipe for a soap. Scene 1. The Nightlife Adam and Hastie go to the casino. Adam is very poor and decided that the best way to keep off the streets is to gamble his last few euro in the hope of that one big win. There was wins and Adam was rich! Adam however went to the bar chatted to some randoms and Hastie for a bit then feeling full of courage, goes back to the ...
Figueira da Foz, Portugal drewapHello...

I'm in Portugal now. Last I wrote was in Toledo, I think...I took a night train to Lisbon, where I stayed for one night. It's nice, as far as big cities go, but it's a big city. It's very diverse and the people are real laid back.

After that I went to Sintra, just west of Lisbon. It's a little town in the mountains. Lots of shade, green, and fresh air. I spent many more days there than I planned to. The first night I arrived ...
