Today we arrived in Emmersdorf, Austria. and were able to have a leisurely breakfast before embarking on our walking tour at 1030am. Today, we visited Melk Abbey, With its cobblestone streets and majestic abbey, Melk is a highlight of the Danube Valley visit. The abbey is majestically situated on an outcrop rising above the Danube, it stands resplendent in a golden hue, crowned by tours. The views were spectacular. Sailing through the Wachau Valley is very beautiful, as the hillsides rise steeply from the river’s edge and are terraced with vineyards in every direction. This morning we woke up in Melk, Austria under sunny skies again. Forests and meadows cover much of Austria and more than half of the country is mountainous (remember Maria and the Von Trapps escaping over the mountains to Switzerland). Melk is a highlight of the Danube valley as we visited the Melk Abbey, one of the most famous abbeys in Austria. Dramatically situated on an outcrop rising above the Danube, it stands resplendent in a golden hue, crowned by towers. Built in ...

After indulging in some more of Dorothea's topnotch muesli (we have tried to make our own this good, but it never compares) on Monday morning, it was time to hop back on the trusty OBB so we could get in to see what new roomies might be inhabiting the Wink Estate. All excited to say hey to Winkey and ask her if she missed us/if the new roommates were as cool as we, she greeted us with "ohhh hi, you went away?" K not the best greeting. The place was clean, nothing smashed ...
