... feeling good about how much we'd saved, and quite willing to part with it for an airport-priced breakfast. Just as well we did, as our first flight, London to Helsinki only had pre-purchased food. It was a boring 2.5 hr trip, in which we gained 2 hours. We then reversed direction, and flew back north of England, across Iceland and down the east coast to New York, losing 7 hours in the process (on an 8.5 hr journey), and arriving at JFK at 4pm. George and I had separate seats on both ...

Today was the toughest day so far. Our target was to hit 50 miles which we just about got to. We climbed up through the mountains of Pensilvania, amounting to just short of 2000 feet of climbing. I never realise that many hills existed on earth, they ...

... cafe that decided to close on Mondays! It was a pretty huge blow after we'd been cycling for so long-but then a cycle enthusiast, called Dean, pulled up and saved us all from cycling another 15 miles to the next campsite. At first he gave us some really handy advice on where to camp but before too long he mentioned he lives us 5 miles down the road and we were welcome to pitch our tents in his back yard. His son (our age) and his ...
