... the 3000ft or so from the mountains. I'd planned on this being a warm European home and the last two nights have come as something of a shock. So climb down we did, via Le Collet where we were so nearly sandwiched yesterday, towards, but not to, Colmar. France definitely had more cyclists, mad cyclists, than cars. Being held up behind a peloton only served to show us more of the grand view of Alsace-Lorraine. Then there followed a few ridiculously straight, ...

Constance was Constant - Zurich Not so Much

We arrived in Zurich with expectations and all of them were met with disappointment. Impressions of Zurich. Brown, bland, uninspiring. It was difficult to find a park. In the end we found somewhere and had to ride about 6 km back into town to have a look around. campsite, and found some shade to relax in. A sign told us the water temperature was 23 degrees, very pleasant. The lake is fantastic with enough space for the hoards that were taking advantage of the weather. It has a huge wooden pirate ship for the kids to jump off and pontoons moored mid lake. It is clearly somewhere to bring the kids after school (just about the time we turned up!). What a great place.

Last Hike

... be our only opportunity to use it. In hindsight, I think it was a wise move as it meant I was fresh to attack the ridge. It was quite a steep uphill climb at the start, but not particularly scary, but before long the track narrowed and the steep drops either side became more intimidating. There were a few sections with a steel rope to hang onto where the track was particularly narrow, and a few other sections where I was grateful for Anja's firm grip to ...
