... town of Airolo were tough enough, with steep climbs through long tunnels before the inevitable road-work traffic lights just had to happen on the steepest section of the road. Along the way there are viewing stations where you see different aspects of the roaring and powerful waterfall. It is fed by the big mountains - Jungfrau, Eiger, Munch etc. It was interesting, cold and wet! A great experience but not for the claustrophobic, or vertigo affected. You also need an average level of fitness as there is a bit of climbing up steps and slopes. ...
Jaimie was still feeling under the weather today and this was a perfect place to get some rest. One of the optional excursions was to catch a traditional train up to Joungfraujoch, 3500 metres up. It was a little expensive for us considering we've been on a few snowy mountains before so we gave it a miss. What we didn’t realise was that there was only one other guy that didn’t go, so the hostel was completely quiet.
