      ... town of Airolo were tough enough, with steep climbs through long tunnels before the inevitable road-work traffic lights just had to happen on the steepest section of the road. I was never going to make it through on time, but I think seeing my valiant effort meant the cars waiting didn’t mind....or perhaps not.       ... and has little except magnificent scenery- no shops to look at in this village!

      As we head to Italy and to Bellagio - where I'm sure it will be very different- it is good to take the time . be still, to be inward focused and to be replenished...before we move on to a new place with its stimulation. A reminder of how much I really need and desire both - the peace and inward focus, as well as the excitement and outward focus- it's all about getting the balance ...

      ... from 14 degrees at base to less than 4 degrees at top. We did not expect snow, were not prepared for ice and had not the correct foot wear to trek through sludge snow and ice mud. End result bum slide toboggan style without a toboggan through the icy mud amongst our adventures. Not the testing of the waters I had envisaged for this holiday. Nevertheless great vistas, spectacular scenery, good beer and finally a warm bed after 48 hours.

      Hard to believe it is summer here when we are surrounded by snow capped mountains and rugged up to keep warm! I had to ask the owner of the apartment to turn on the heating since it was so cold last night...
