... men to finish it and it took 38 years! After touring the church, we got the rental (Mercedes!) and drove 1.5 hours to a town near the start of the Mosel river. Tomorrow we will visit a castle and some small, German towns. It's warm and muggy today but sunny. We ate a delicious German lunch and a yummy Italian dinner! Go figure. Cheers to all in ...

Brought brekky this morning at the Cologne railway station because we discovered they have lovely yogurt and muesli. Then we went shopping. I bought a pair of German shoes, made in Hamburg, for $52! Rosanne bought a very comfortable pair of new season shoes for a little more. Found unbelievable bargain at a 5* Hotel. & couldn't resist. To put it into context the breakfast cost 50% of the room rate! We didn't have breakfast! Even better, parking was also extra but as GG was too tall for their underground car park, we had to park with the smart cars in front of the Hotel at no charge. Hilarious!

People came and went from the train, going to grab beers or stretch their legs. I figured I'd better just stay still, seeing as I couldn't afford to get stranded if the train suddenly left. Over an hour later, we received further information - we were going zuruck, back. ...

We arrived at our hotel by lunch and our rooms were not ready yet. We decided to get a cab and head into town. The Dorint Hotel sits up on a hill overlooking the main part of the city. We received a recommendation for the Sudhaus from the lady working the check in desk, and the taxi driver dropped us where we needed to go. After a great lunch and my first kolsch in Germany, we walked over to ...
