... quite cold by the end as we had to take our shoes off to tour the castle & the floors were very cold. Nia decided that another hot sweet fish was the answer so we bought another to take back for tea. Chilled to the bone it seemed like a good moment to experience the hot spring baths in the hotel. It had been a great 10 day holiday – we can’t wait to come ...

In Japan there is a type of rail ticket called the Japan Rail Pass. This has the potential to save a lot of money over the course of your journey. However it can only be bought if you are out of the country. I had left it too late and so struggled to get mine, leaving my plans all up in the air. I managed to pick my pass up by sending it to my hosts for 2 days. This worked really well and because I had asked to stay with them early in my trip, I now had options ...
