... large catacombs which originally house the well and reservoir for water storage. You need water when fighting the hordes. Aptly now many of these have been converted into restaurants and wine cellars. We drove up to our parking area for the bus. Out of the bus. With our personal possessions, whilst a mini bus would take up our suitcases. As the Colonel's batman I had a day pack, camera bag, Insite bag and Emma's 15 kg carry on leather bag whilst The Colonel had her sling ...

This turns into four bottles of wine and two bottles of Lemonchello and finally to bed at ...

Such lovely country. No stops today apart from necessary comfort and food stops. Arrived in Venice and straight to collect water taxi for trip into main Venice area. Stopped for half hour break and wandered into st marks square. Huge area, and in contrast to Rome, not filled with stalls and other ...

... explore. As we left Viterbo Ali spotted women in bikinis just off a grotty looking car park who, as far as we could tell, were bathing in a natural spa fed by a sort of mini white aqueduct. We meant to go back but didn't have time. For dinner we'd booked in for Roberto's special seafood dinner at Palazzo Catalani. There was a very talented trio playing music - double bass, snare drum and cymbal, and ...
