Mexico de nuevo

... having our last night. The storm was right over us drowning our tent like crazy. Is that a déjà-vu? You betcha! Gee, we were so upset stressing like in old times and just ready to give up. Next morning we dry out our tent, clean it real neatly and decide to get a dry accommodation until Jason’s parents get here. We went to our favourite place, Troncones! Abuelita was more than happy to rent out one of her little rooms to us, since we were the only guests she had. We were ...

Vive Mexico!

Its been about three weeks since Tracy and I got to Zihuatanejo (see wah tah
NAY ho), which is in the Mexican state of Guerrero. We picked this town solely based on what we saw online as far as: population (not too big or too small), access to many different beaches, and the potential for lots of restaurants to choose from.

Zihuatanejo, or "Zihua" as the locals call it, is a fairly new city. There are no giant cathedrals or colonial buildings like you would find in Mexico ...

If you need proof of creation, go to the BEACH!

... was frustration for both me and them, but I sure had a good time.

On Sunday night, I decided I wanted to see the sun set at the beach, so I took my camera and went out to the beach alone. (Everyone else was napping) As I was standing in the sand, water flowing over my feet, waves crashing in, the sun was setting and it reminded me that God is amazing! Every little detail of the huge waves, the tides, the sun going ...

Heighten Military Presence but Beautiful Beaches

Ixtapa surprised both Christina and I as the area was like one big Resort.  Much different then the rest of Mexico, the gardens were manicured, no garbage, and decent roads. This was one of the first RV Parks we found that was in good shape offering all the amenities at a reasonable price, 140 pesos (US$10.37). We checked out the town and market, they were really set up for the American tourist. I would have to say it ...

The town those Shawshank fellas escaped too

... had a kick ass arcade for the kids. Go figure. Helen and I had a great dinner way a top the bay one night and dinner in the downtown area another night. We had this great bay access path below our hotel that gave us a thirty minute walk to town and made a great jogging path in the morning. I even gave the surf a try right in front of our hotel in the bay but was way to close to the rocks for me. This little local nut on a surf board would ride waves right into the rocks.

More fun hitching rides to and from Zihuatanejo...

... Mangos No. 25, Tel: 01 (755) 112-2191, Web: www.angelashostel.com.mx. This excellent budget friendly Canadian owned hotel/hostel is tucked in behind the market. Run by Greg and Angela, the hotel offers en-suite rooms, dorms, and a communal kitchen. Their current rates are 100 peso in a dorm and 250, 350 & 400 peso for 1/2, 3 or 4 persons.

Mexico City

... escaped eventually and got a cab to the main square of the city, Zocolo, and somehow found Sebs old hotel. We were shattered but managed to force a couple of beers down and make our next plans. The Thursday morning, the first of our trip wasn´t a great one. First off, there had been heavy rain overnight and an overcast sky did not lend itself to a 4 hour round triup to visit the pyramid Maya ruins - a real shame. Then to confound matters, the hotel had a powercut ...

Another List

... t get it again. As with the Hemorrhagic version you usually die or wind up being a vegetable! And I really should have. At least it's not Malaria! Malaria can keep coming back! Hey, maybe it was actually Typhoid Fever? The other stuff at this point just seems innocuous and so I'm not even going to go into it. Except to say that, I have also had Brain, Lung, and Heart Angiograms. The lung and heart Angiograms were to see how much damage there was. My ...

El Professor

... which would be returned after hatching). But the highlight was encountering a 60yo Black Turtle still in the nest who had finished laying and had entered a trance under which they 'dance' and cover the nest with sand. Despite moving her out of the nest to remove the eggs, the trance and dancing continued, amazing stuff. It was around 3am when we returned, minus the Professor who we had left drinking cold coffee and smoking on the beach.
