Yay, Snorkle Cruise!

My friend is a big fan of the snorkeling, so she set us all up with an unforgettable outing - the catamaran snorkel cruise! We booked our tour through a website given to us by our hotel, Viator. What we didn't realize is that we weren't booking with a specific company - just the tour and then Viator selected the company. So, I guess we were lucky because all went smoothly and we had a great time. Now that I ...

... Fabulous idea!! Also, she later walked around with complimentary rum punch shots! Yum!!

The pool wasn't too crowded and we ended up meeting a lot of the other resort goers. Conversation was pretty easy as most of the people here were from New Jersey, same as us. It was the annual teachers convention so schools are out for the week and lots of people take trips ...

... the side of our dinghy while he was sucking the bottom. It was all very strange, especially when he extracted his male member. We are not sure what he was up to but it was rather comical (there is a photo of him in action). He was probably there for 30 minutes - eventually we needed to bring the dinghy up on deck so we had to end his short love affair with our dinghy. We said goodbye to Kalida and the manatee and did an overnight sail (no wind so mostly engine, as usual) to Culebra ...

... caught a cab back to the boat. That night me and will did the Bio-Bay kayaking trip. There are millions of dynoflagelytes in the water which glow when they are agitated so when you move your hand or paddle under the water it glows. It was really cool, peaceful and gorgeous since we were out in the middle of nowhere in kayaks under the stars. The second day we again had nothing planned through SAS, which I am starting to see is a better way to go ...

... walls. As the nature of the island transitioned from military controlled to peaceful community many of the walls were taken down or blended into the hillside. Houses and restaurants now lie outside of the wall taking advantage of the coastal views. Old San Juan is the historic district known for its colorful buildings and excellent shopping. I stopped and had brunch at a local café and enjoyed some excellent local ...

... ship at about 12:15 AM and against good judgment went out to Senor Frogs which was an absolute waste of time. Day 2 I had to wake up at 7 AM in order to get ready for my SAS trip to the El Yunque rainforest hike. This is the only rainforest under the watch of the U.S. forest service. The hike was really nice (There will be pictures up if I can get them to work this time) and we were given the opportunity to swim in a little water hole under this cool ...

Day 3, Adjusting to my new life

... I look down and I see black water dusted with white foam from the waves. I look up and I see a black sky speckled with twinkling dots. I pick out one star and stare at it, and I giggle as I realize that I feel like I am in a snow globe, watching the star move back and forth and all around in the sky as the ship rocks. And nowhere do I see land. I remember talking to my Mom once about how if I ever went into the armed services I would choose the ...

... the entire population of Puerto Rico can fit in the front seat of all the cars. Also meaning there is traffic almost always. - Puerto Rico is a commonwealth of the United States basically meaning they have the best of both worlds. They get the citizenship of the US but they dont have to follow by all the US rules. They have their own voting system and the drinking age is here 18 (yes.. i am legal here!) .ALSO THEY DONT HAVE TO PAY FEDERAL TAXES!

... up numerous gorgeous anchorages that were far too rough. After motoring along the coast we decided to pick up a mooring off Bahia Tamarindo long enough for a swim and lunch. Carolyn Dales had raved about the snorkeling here but between the cloudy water and the rough conditions near the rocks we realized that snorkeling would not be prudent. We could only imagine how spectacular this area would be in settled weather. Although we had wanted to anchor in Bahia Almodovar, we ...
