Amsterdam - shopping

Today we woke and went for a big walk to find Dutch Pancakes. We found a place that seemed pretty popular as it had a bit of a queue. We waited and were shown to our table. Ash had a pretty good view of the kitchen and watched the chef flipping pancakes in the air left right and centre. These were big pancakes too. Like pizza size. And she just flipped them perfectly each time. Talented! We ordered ...

... the upper level, you then have to walk along to go back downstairs, walk out the building and up the escalator again to the bus stops where there isn't any stance numbers because they're doing renovation works. It was 3 hours long and we just stayed within the canal belt. We learned a lot about the history and political makeup of the city as well as some cultural things. Like Big Mamma Alley (lovingly named for the larger women in windows that line it), which was our 2nd stop. We were quickly told you weren't ...

... Then on to the Rijks Museum. The museum has recently been renovated and is as beautiful as the artwork it holds. We spent about an hour and a half looking at works by Rembrant, Vermeer, Van Gogh and more. Jeanine and I could have stayed longer but the rest of the crowd was ready to go after 30 minutes. The two-mile walk back to the central station was as entertaining as the museum. So many shops and cafés, so many people, so ...
