... night, Ben had to get their hire car back to Frankfurt airport, I went to help and there was an accident, closed down autobahn. So, we finally got on the road Tues. afternoon and set off into the country. By the way when vehicles are in neutral for a certain time, they shut down, so sitting at lights - shut down, in a traffic jam - same thing - (conserves fuel) have to stick it back in gear and away you go! ... that looked like big buttercups growing up from the bottom of the canal amongst the water lily leaves. Many houses in the rural areas are reached by wee bridges and some by little punts that the people crank back and forth on cables. Our cycle routes were full of bridges and not a few ferries. ... from bratwurst to Belgian waffles! After a short tour of the festivities, we located the Albert Heijn grocery store nearby, where we purchased some basic items to stock our empty kitchen in the apartment.

By the time we lugged our haul back to the apartment, all of us were pretty worn out after the long travel day, so the group "yawning" began in earnest by 6:00, and lights will likely be out early tonight.

... fun, we learnt how the beer is made, and it's history. Tasted a couple beers. Was an enjoyable experience just to stroll around, also got a personalised Heineken bottle with "The Wes" marked on it, hope it can make the trip home. ... for dinner but there was a little confusion over which address we were meant to meet. We finally met after about an hour and went to typical Dutch restaurant.
